Atlanta police arrested a 16-year-old student at Benjamin E. Mays High School who was found inside a restroom with a loaded and concealed .22-caliber handgun.

Atlanta police Sgt. Greg Lyon said a school resource officer discovered the student and the gun Friday, and the student faces charges of carrying a concealed weapon, carrying a weapon at a school gathering and disrupting public school.

Lyons said the circumstances surrounding the incident at the southwest Atlanta school are under investigation.
