Cravings for hush puppies and fried fish may make mouths may water, but images of raw chicken stored above fresh heads of lettuce might make some retch.

That’s exactly what a health inspector described in a recent report about Atlanta’s Supreme Fish Delight.

The restaurant on Market Boulevard failed its May 17 inspection with a score of 49, according to a report by the Georgia Department of Public Health.

Channel 2 Action News stopped by the seafood place Friday and spoke with an employee who had no idea. An older report on the wall showed a 96 score, but that was from October 2015.

It’s impossible to wash up when the sinks have no soap nearby, but employees were seen handling raw meat and putting clean gloves over dirty hands, according to the report.

Heavy food debris was found inside the ice machine, on floors, walls and throughout the food preparation area. Broccoli and other ingredients were stored uncovered in a walk-in cooler. Fish was left to thaw improperly, with standing water pooled around it.

The restaurant is still open for business and will get a chance to improve its score.
