The Atlanta school board Monday honored three of the students who integrated Atlanta Public Schools 50 years ago. Madelyne Nix, Thomas F. Welch and Rosalyn Walton-Lees were part of the "Atlanta Nine," who integrated of four of Atlanta’s all-white high schools on Aug. 30, 1961. Proclamations were issued to honor the students, who went on to have distinguished professional careers. Information: www.atlanta.k12.ga.us.
