The city of Atlanta in partnership with the Atlanta Police Foundation has raised $2.1 million to fund a significant expansion of its video surveillance network, the Loudermilk Video Integration Center, including $450,000 in city funding.

The expansion will begin focus on public safety in District 8 and the surrounding neighborhoods. The city recently confirmed expanding the video integration center to track more than 5,700 security cameras around the city.

“I am pleased that the city is partnering with the Atlanta Police Foundation, our neighborhood civic associations, businesses, and other stakeholders in an effort to make our community safer,” said district 8 Council member Yolanda Adrean. “We will deploy new policing strategies in District 8 with a network of high-tech public safety security cameras and license plate readers.”

In addition to the funding announced, Adrean has committed $300,000 from her district budget on the initiative.
