Atlanta Public Schools' 2017-18 school year will kickoff with a new Aug. 1 start date as decided by respondents to an Atlanta Board of Education survey.

For teachers, the calendar also includes six days of planning and five days of professional learning.

Here are some important dates for APS parents to know:

  • The first day of school will be Aug. 1.
  • Thanksgiving break will be Nov. 20-24.
  • Winter break will begin Dec. 25 and students return to school on Jan. 8.
  • Spring break will be April 2-6.
  • The last day of school will be May 25.
