Atlanta police release suspect's sketch in attempted child abduction

Jan 12, 2012

Police are looking for a man who they say tried to abduct a 12-year-old girl in southwest Atlanta on Thursday morning.

A sketch was released of the suspect, who police say approached the child near Sylvan Road and Byron Drive as she was walking to Sylvan Hills Middle School around 8:30 a.m. The man threatened to hurt the girl after she refused his demand to get into his vehicle, police said.

"The girl called 911, and the suspect then fled," said Atlanta police spokesman Officer John Chafee.

The suspect is described as a black male with a mustache and short, curly hair. He had a black mark on his forehead. He was wearing a black hoodie and driving a silver, compact, four-door vehicle that may have a partial Georgia license plate tag of BUX, police said.

Please contact Atlanta Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477 with any information on the case.
