A week after a man was hit and killed while riding an electric scooter, Atlanta police are again investigating a scooter-related injury.

An e-scooter rider was injured in a collision with a car near Lenox Square mall on Peachtree Road about 10 p.m. Monday, Atlanta police said.

RELATED COVERAGE:

The scooter rider was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital after complaining of leg pain, police said.

Investigators later said the e-scooter rider was at fault for the wreck and cited him for riding on the sidewalk.

Further details on what led to the crash were not immediately available. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has requested the incident report.

The latest scooter incident comes a week after  William Alexander, 37, of Atlanta, was hit and killed by a CobbLinc bus while riding a scooter in the intersection of West Peachtree and 15th streets not far from Arts Center MARTA station.

Still on the scooter, Alexander was dragged under the bus. He died before firefighters were able to free him. The man was on his way home from an Atlanta United game when the wreck occurred.

Two months ago, the city had its first scooter-related death, also at a train station.
