An Atlanta City Council panel has recommended to the full Council that it continue to have Buckhead Baseball Inc. offer youth baseball programs for children ages 4-12 at Frankie Allen Park.

The group has offered baseball programs for 60 years and has maintained the city-owned park’s fields and facilities at its own expense, according to a resolution passed by the City Council Community Development/Human Resources Committee.

The Commissioner of the Department of Parks and Recreation recommended that the city enter into a new memorandum of understanding with Buckhead Baseball for five years, with a single five-year renewal option. The organization would be allowed continued use of the fields and facilities, and the authority to maintain and raise funds for them.
