A proposed arts advisory panel would develop a plan for using $10 million of the Renew Atlanta bond program for public art projects around the city.

A resolution by Council Member Felicia A. Moore, out of the Community Development & Human Resources Committee, calls for creating a 12-member Renew Atlanta Public Arts Advisory Group.

The group would hold public meetings in each quadrant of the city and develop a comprehensive plan of public art installations, neighborhood art projects and restoring existing public art. The plan would be subject to City Council approval.

There would be eight voting members appointed by the mayor, Council president, council members and others; and four non-voting members representing Public Works, Cultural Affairs, the Urban Design Commission and the Renew Atlanta bond program.

Voters approved the $250 million Renew Atlanta infrastructure bond program in March 2015 to pay for a backlog of projects including road resurfacings, bridge repairs and parks upgrades.
