The Atlanta Mission is reimagining The Atlanta Day Shelter for Women and Children to create Atlanta’s first low-barrier shelter, according to a press release. The new facility, Restoration House, will expand day services for women and children and create 100 new shelter beds for those in need.

The last day for services at The Atlanta Day Shelter was Thursday, March 5. Day services will be closed through Sunday, March 15, while the team dedicates this time to moving, training, and team building to ensure that staff is fully prepared and equipped to provide the best possible care.

Effective Monday, March 16 and until further notice, day services for women and children will be located at My Sister’s House. Organizers anticipate construction will continue until spring 2021 when Restoration House will open on Ethel Street with enhanced day services and overnight shelter for around 100 women and children.

“Please pray that God would continue to give us the wisdom, creativity, discernment, and resources needed as we continue the design and construction process. It is our desire to create an environment in which Christ’s transforming power is present in everything we say and do, from the construction of the building, to the services we offer, and everything in between,” said Jim Reese, president and CEO.
