An Atlanta man was found guilty of fatally shooting a club manager in southwest Atlanta last year, Fulton County officials said Monday.

Rashad Speigner, who was convicted of murder, felony murder, three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of aggravated battery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, will be sentenced Wednesday, according to a statement from the Fulton County District Attorney’s office.

Speigner shot and killed 52-year-old Melvin Allison Jr. and injured two others outside of LaCura Bar and Bistro on Metropolitan Parkway on March 25, 2016, officials said.

The incident began inside the club, according to the district attorney’s office, when the defendant confronted Allison’s nephew about a recent shooting. Allison, one of the managers at the club, saw the dispute and ordered a security guard to remove Speigner.

On the way out, Speigner got into a fight with another security guard. Once outside, the two men stumbled and fell onto a car while brawling, officials said.

“According to witnesses, the defendant then pulled out a gun and began shooting,” the district attorney’s office said in the statement.

Allison died at the scene, while the two other victims were taken to the hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, officials said.
