The snow and ice that blanketed North Georgia last week caused an estimated $25 million in insurance claims, Georgia Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine said.

“With over 4,500 claims reported, I believe we have reached $25 million," said Oxendine, a candidate for governor.

Automotive damages accounted for the bulk of the claims, the insurance commissioner said.
