The Atlanta Hawks will giveaway shoes to 65 kids at the Decatur Family YMCA on Wednesday.

Just weeks before spring break, several dozen lucky children will receive free shoes courtesy of the Atlanta Hawks.

The team will partner with non-profit Shoes that Fit to give away shoes to 65 children in the Decatur Family YMCA after-school program, located on 1100 Clairemont Ave., from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

“Many of the children we serve have shoes that have been passed down from their sisters or brothers,” Decatur Family YMCA executive director Jan Lauten said in a news release about the event.

The giveaway is part of NBA Fit Week, which encourages physical and mental health awareness among league fans.

Children will get a visit from Atlanta Hawks players Justin Anderson and Dewayne Dedmon, who will distribute the shoes. The Lady Hawks, who are the wives, mothers and significant others of Hawks players and staff, will also host a fitness station with games and nutritional tips.
