Four times a week, Patrick Farms receives an average load of 44 pallets of watermelons in each truck at their stalls at the Atlanta State Farmers Market in Forest Park.

Jimmy Williams says his day starts at 3 a.m. and usually ends at 6 p.m.

Charles Kight holds a sign to promote locally grown fruits and vegetables at his stall at the market. Even though Georgia tomatoes aren't among the tainted produce seen nationally, shoppers were wary on this day.

Gene, 79, and Margaret, 70, Sherman of Roanoke, Ala., make the two-hour trip to the Atlanta State Farmers Market every Tuesday to buy produce for their distribution company.

Zucchini squash runs about $1.50 to $2.50 at the Patrick Farms retail stall.

Jimmy Williams said tomatoes are selling for $10-$12 a box compared to $20-$22 before the salmonella outbreak elsewhere.
