It's been nearly five months since Atlanta rapper Yung Mazi was gunned down yards from a police station in Kirkwood. But police are still tight-lipped about the investigation.

Asked Friday if there were any suspects or a possible motive, an Atlanta Police Department spokesman said: “Currently there is no new information to provide regarding this case.”

The 31-year-old Conyers resident, whose given name was Jibril Abdur-Rahman, was shot multiple times while leaving Urban Pie pizza. The killer fled while passersby saw the body on Hosea L. Williams Drive near the rapper’s white 2015 Mercedes sedan.

Speculation was rampant in the days after, considering his reputation as someone who was shot often, who once assured that he was “bulletproof” after being shot at a Waffle House.

Though friends and family hailed him as a philanthropist and strong father, the stories about shootings followed him most. The rapper, who worked with fellow Atlantans Rich Homie Quan and Young Thug, said in a 2016 interview he'd previously been shot about 10 times.

That the final bullets found him in Kirkwood troubled residents, who enjoy a mostly peaceful neighborhood.
