Atlanta City Council member Michael Julian Bond presented a proclamation honoring Shirley Sherrod, a former U.S. Department of Agriculture official, at the 2011 Women's Day celebration at Central United Methodist Church in downtown Atlanta on Sunday. White House officials eventually apologized, and Sherrod was offered a new position. She chose to leave the agency.
