Atlanta’s Accident Investigation Unit handled an accident with serious injury Aug. 1 on the Interstate 75/Interstate 85 northbound connector at the 17th St. overpass where a HERO worker suffered severe head trauma.

Felony charges of serious injury and DUI were charged against the at-fault driver.

For this reason, the Accident Investigation Unit will shut down the right half of the highway, I-75 north bound, with the help of HERO in order to map the crime scene.

This will start at 3 a. m. Thursday. Officials anticipate the exercise to last approximately 45 minutes to one hour, causing minimal, if any, delays since traffic is very light that time of the morning.

The exercise should be finished in time for morning rush hour traffic.
