An Athens good Samaritan was beaten and robbed Saturday afternoon after responding to a woman’s plea for help, police say.

Alexus Frei told an Athens-Clarke County officer she was walking along the 300 block of E. Clayton Street when she was stopped by the woman, who said she had twisted her ankle and needed assistance getting to her car. As Frei was helping her she alleges the woman slammed her to the ground.

Two accomplices, one male and one female, emerged and began kicking Frei before fleeing with her purse and other items, according to police.
