Gwinnett County police hope a facial reconstruction helps identify a man whose remains were found in two different locations more than two years apart.
Investigators believe the remains are those of a Hispanic male between the ages of 20 and 40 and that he was a homicide victim. To help identify the man, Gwinnett police asked Marla Lawson, a longtime artist with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, to create a sculpture of the man's face.
Police released images of the facial reconstruction Tuesday, hoping someone will recognize the man.
The investigation began with the discovery of a torso off Woodward Mill Road near Satellite Boulevard in July 2009, according to police. On Jan. 4, a person walking in a wooded area off Brown Road between Sunny Hill and Morgan roads found a human skull and scattered skeletal remains, police said.
Earlier this month, Gwinnett County's Chief Medical Examiner determined that the torso and other remains belonged to the same person.
Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to contact Gwinnett police detectives at 770-513-5300.
