A popular theater and arts center in Stone Mountain is back open after making $1.1 million in renovations.

ART Station, located at 5384 Manor Drive in historic Stone Mountain Village, is known for its theatrical productions related to Southern arts and culture.

The contemporary arts center received new AC, electrical equipment, plumbing, windows and doors, according to a statement from ART Station. The lobby was also renovated, and it got a new gift shop.

“We are so thankful for the support of the Atlanta funding community and our individual donors who have made this campaign successful and have invested in the future of ART Station,” president, founder and artistic director David Thomas said in a statement.

The project was funded by community members as well as several foundations and corporations in metro Atlanta.

ART Station, founded in 1986, scheduled a grand re-opening for Wednesday afternoon.

The completion of the renovations come in the midst of ART Station's "Tour of Southern Ghosts" show, which takes place every year at Stone Mountain Park leading up to Halloween. This year's shows run until Oct. 27.
