The fire that destroyed a vacant Gwinnett County home may have been set, investigators said.

Neighbors reported the fire shortly before 6 p.m., and the single-story home was engulfed when firefighters arrived, Capt. Tommy Rutledge with Gwinnett fire said.

Flames went through the roof of the home and melted siding on a neighboring home, causing minor damage, Rutledge said. The fire was under control by 6:25, he said.

The vacant home, located in the 5700 block of Hillside Drive near Doraville,  was destroyed, Rutledge said. Neighbors told investigators  no one had lived in the home for several years.

"Several witnesses reported seeing juveniles leaving the area prior to the fire erupting," Rutledge said in a statement.

Anyone with information about the blaze is asked to notify authorities.
