Atlanta police Monday had made no arrests in the Friday night shooting death of a security guard at an apartment complex in northwest Atlanta.
The shooting happened about 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Preserve at Collier Ridge complex on Dogwood Drive off Harwell Road.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner's office identified the victim as Robert E. Smith, 43, of Cumming.
Atlanta police have not released details surrounding the shooting, but family members told WXIA-TV that Smith was trying to stop a home invasion at the complex where he worked when he was shot in the leg.
He later died at Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta police spokesman Eric Schwartz said.
