Police had one person in custody and were searching for a second suspect late Tuesday in a jewelry store heist that they say was thwarted by the store owner and an employee.
Two men entered Sabri Guven Fine Jewelry on Haynes Bridge Road in Alpharetta just after 5 p.m., Alpharetta police spokesman George Gordon said.
One of the men asked to see a diamond ring. When the men got the ring, they ran out the door, Gordon said.
“The owner gave chase and attempted to detain the suspect,” Gordon said. “A physical confrontation ensued at which time another employee ran out the store and helped the owner physically detain the suspect.”
One suspect displayed a gun but was disarmed by a person at the store, he said.
Police took the suspect to jail and charges were pending, Gordon said.
The second suspect remained at large Tuesday night, he said.
