A suspect was arrested Tuesday in the fatal shooting of an Atlanta businessman last month.

Ladarius Hardy was taken into custody in Conyers by the U.S. Marshals task force, Channel 2 Action News reported. He remains in the Fulton County Jail after waiving his first court appearance Wednesday.

Terry Porter, 39, who owned several businesses in the metro area, was found dead by a neighbor outside his South Gordon Street home in southwest Atlanta on Nov. 12. Neighbors told police they heard a shot fired around 2:30 a.m. Porter, whose businesses included a DeKalb County assisted living center, had been shot in the head and his black Range Rover was gone, police said.

Porter’s vehicle was later found at a Midtown apartment complex.

Investigators said they believe Hardy may be connected to other crimes in the metro area, including the carjacking and robbery of a woman in Chamblee last month, Channel 2 said.

Hardy is currently facing multiple charges, including murder and armed robbery, according to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office website.

Anyone with information on the shooting should call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
