A homicide suspect sought in the December killing of a man in southwest Atlanta was arrested Monday, police said.

Atlanta Police spokeswoman Kim Jones said Montez Johnson, 18, is charged with homicide in the death of Jerome Rice, 25.

Rice was found shot on Beecher Street, in southwest Atlanta near Cascade Road, shortly after 8 p.m. on Dec. 8. Rice was found near a Family Dollar Store, police said.

DeKalb jail records indicate Johnson was arrested Saturday. Jones said Johnson was expected to be transferred to the Fulton Jail Monday.
