A man suspected of stealing oxycodone from a drug store was found dead in Athens hotel jacuzzi less than two hours later.

Police were called to a Comfort Inn and Suites around 6:25 p.m. Monday and found 41-year-old Doyle Thomas Brittain face down in the jacuzzi, Lt. Michael McKeel with the Athens-Clarke County police said. Brittain was unresponsive when he was transported to Athens Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Foul play is not suspected in Brittain's death, police said. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Stolen drugs found at the scene, along with video surveillance footage, link Brittain to an armed robbery that took place around 4:40 p.m. Monday at the Walgreens on Hawthorne Avenue, McKeel said.
