Chuck Burbridge, chief financial officer for Atlanta Public Schools, won the 2011 Bill Wise Award from the Council of the Great City Schools. The recognition is given out annually to a school business official who demonstrates outstanding service for urban education. Burbridge has been APS's financial chief since 2007, formerly serving in Los Angeles and Chicago school districts. He also worked as chief economist for the Illinois Economic and Fiscal Commission. The council represents more than 60 large urban public school districts.
