The next free Powder Springs Citizen Police Academy will begin at 6 p.m. Jan. 22 for 10 weeks on Thursday nights at the city’s police headquarters, 1114 Richard D. Sailors Parkway.

Lectures, field trips and simulated activities will help participants become acquainted with police operations, including firearms training at Glock Inc. and a chance to ride along with an officer on patrol.

Applicants must be at least 18 and pass a criminal history background check.
