Atlanta Public Schools’ reconfigured public safety unit, which will use more full-time police officers to patrol schools, will be led by Atlanta Police Department Maj. Keith Meadows.

Meadows, a former commander of the Major Crimes Section, will head the School Detectives Section after spending the last year and half in charge of east Atlanta’s Zone 6 precinct.

Atlanta Police Chief George Turner said that having sustained, full-time officers in every middle and high school will provide a safe learning environment.
