Rezoning for a new development with 230 apartments on 27 acres in McDonough was approved by the Henry County Board of Commissioners at its Feb. 19 regular meeting.

The site on the south side of Mt. Carmel Road, east of North Bridges Road and west of Willow Lane, was granted RM (multi-family residential zoning) but the number of units was cut from the original request of 275. County staff indicated that the request was in line with the county’s future land use designation of high-density residential, which allows for up to 16 dwelling units per net acre, and there is an existing multi-family development directly to the south of the property.

More than a dozen conditions were attached to the rezoning approval.
