Animals, county shelter focus of DeKalb rally

A DeKalb County animal-welfare group that has been pushing for the county to improve conditions at its animal shelter rallied in front of government buildings Monday to keep attention on the issue.

Advocates for DeKalb Animals want the county to build a new shelter and change policies in a bid to reduce euthanasia at the shelter.

The rally began on Decatur Square and marched to CEO Burrell Ellis' downtown Decatur office. Ellis was out of town Monday.
