The Islamic Speakers Bureau of Atlanta recognized several individuals recently during  its 10th annual Building Bridges Awards dinner at the Cobb Galleria Centre.

Azizah Al-Hibri, a professor of law, was the keynote speaker and spoke about religious freedom in America and misunderstandings about Islam.

Imam Plemon E. El-Amin received the "Lifetime Achievement Award" for his work on building bridges through engagement and dialogue and for being a leader in the Muslim community.

Also receving awards were: Brian Knowlton and U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates, who  received the "Building Bridges" awards. Others were Salma Stoman, "Speaker of the Year" and Mansour Ansari, "ISBer of the Year."
