Police warn during the holidays of thieves snatching packages from doorsteps, but a former Amazon delivery driver is accused of stealing parcels right out of the van.

Jordan Marcus Scott, of Conyers, has been charged with a felony theft count and a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge.

When asked for a comment, Amazon sent the following:  “This does not reflect the high standards we have for delivery service providers. This individual is no longer delivering Amazon packages.”

An Amazon spokesman said Scott was a contractor and the delivery service provider he worked for has fired him.

On Dec. 3, there were 23 empty packages found at an address in the 4000 block of Highlands Parkway, according to a warrant from Smyrna police.

While being interviewed by officers, Scott admitted to stealing the packages and said that he had a stolen cell phone charger and speaker on him at the time, the warrant said.

“I made a mistake,” officers reported him saying in the interview.

While searching him, police said they found a Ziploc bag with two grams of marijuana.

He was booked into Cobb County jail on Dec. 5 and bonded out for $3,520 the same day, jail records show.
