The Alpharetta City Council has begun consideration of the mayor’s recommended FY 2017 budget. The $113 million plan includes $67.7 million in the general fund and contains funding for $16.1 million in capital investment. The document proposes keeping,the city’s millage rate at 5.750. It also contains money for employee raises and for several new positions including four emergency communications officers.

In all, the plan envisions a 3.8 percent jump in general fund expenditures from FY 2016. The budget will be discussed at several upcoming council meetings, including public hearings in conjunction with the June 6 and 20 sessions. The fiscal year begins July 1.
