The Alpharetta City Council has approved spending $945,000 to buy two adjoining land parcels on Mid Broadwell Road for possible future parkland.

The site is at 1480 and 1490 Mid Broadwell, according to Council documents. The land, midway between downtown Alpharetta and unincorporated Crabapple, is mostly surrounded by housing subdivisions. The Alpharetta Church of God is next door.

The acquisition will be funded out of a parks bond issue approved by Alpharetta voters in May, said James T. Drinkard, assistant city administrator.

“There are no plans yet for that land but the intent is to use it as passive park space – no ball fields or things like that,” Drinkard said. “You may have open green space (or) walking trails.”
