The Alpharetta City Council has awarded a $125,000 contract to have a consultant update a planning document for the North Point Parkway corridor.

Kimley-Horn and Associates Inc. will update the North Point Activity Center Livable Centers Initiative plan. The plan identifies transportation and pedestrian improvements and land use initiatives to “enliven and keep the activity center viable and competitive,” according to the consultant’s proposal to the city.

The consultant said it would assess the 2007 plan and its last five-year update, do a market analysis, conduct public workshops, meet with property owners and develop a draft 5-year action plan.

The study area extends along North Point Parkway, which runs parallel to and south of the Ga. 400 expressway, from Mansell Road to just west of Kimball Bridge Road. The effort will be funded by a $100,000 grant from the Atlanta Regional Commission, with a $25,000 local share from Alpharetta.
