Alpharetta will activate a new pedestrian crossing signal this month designed to increase traffic compliance. The new system, to be installed at Wills Park on Old Milton Parkway, allows pedestrians to activate a signal, much like a traffic light, that will notify drivers to stop and allow the pedestrian to cross.

When activated, the signal will first turn yellow to warn drivers before turning to red to indicate that traffic should come to a complete stop. After a few moments the red signal will begin to flash, indicating that drivers can proceed if no pedestrian is in the crosswalk.
