Alpharetta has set its first community open house to discuss the Alpha Loop and its future connection to the Big Creek Greenway.

The meeting on the “Alpha Link” is scheduled for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, in Suite 300 of the Georgia 400 Center, 2325 Lakeview Parkway, Alpharetta.

The Alpha Loop is a trail project connecting downtown with Avalon, the Northwinds area and other community activity centers west of Ga. 400. The Alpharetta portion of the Big Creek Greenway extends for about eight miles along its namesake creek parallel to North Point Parkway, east of Ga. 400.

The Alpha Link would cross Ga. 400 and connect with the Greenway in the vicinity of North Point Mall. Last fall, the City Council awarded a $150,000 contract to MKSK Studios to develop a “scoping concept plan” for a multi-use path connecting the Alpha Loop to the Big Creek Greenway, North Point Mall, and across Haynes Bridge Road.
