Alpharetta opens the holiday season this year with the simultaneous lighting of two trees downtown at its Season of Celebration event, presented by WellStar on Friday, Dec. 6. It is the city’s 43rd tree lighting.

The free event begins at 6 p.m. on the Town Green with musical performances, children’s activities, food trucks and a visit from Santa Claus. A life-sized Nutcracker collection will be on display for photos and selfies.

Tree lightings are set for 6:30 p.m. of a traditional spruce, 55 feet tall with 40,000 twinkling lights, in Old Milton Park, and new this year, a 25-foot tree of lights on the Town Green opposite the main stage.

The occasion also will see the kick-off of the city’s second annual holiday food drive, Dec. 6-20, benefiting North Fulton Community Charities. Food donors will receive a booklet with seasonal savings at local businesses and restaurants.

Season of Celebration sponsors are WellStar, the Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau, EVEN Hotel Alpharetta and Pete's Plumbing. Information: https://bit.ly/2qzioqT
