The Alpharetta City Council has approved selling a 35.9-acre parcel off Shiloh Road in Forsyth County to a home builder.

The sales price is only $35,000, as the site is mostly unbuildable wetlands, according to a staff report on the property. It was donated to the city in the 1980s and has remained unused.

Hovis Homes Inc. approached the city about selling the land. The builder plans to use it for a sanitary sewer easement to bring utility service to an adjacent, 45-acre tract it owns. The land is along Big Creek south of Fowler Park. The Forsyth segment of the Big Creek Greenway runs past it.
