The Alpharetta Recreation and Parks Department has gotten the city’s go-ahead to apply for a $15,000 grant for Camp Happy Hearts, a summer day camp for children ages 6 to 12 with mild disabilities.

The City Council approved the request to apply for the grant out of the Community Services Program administered by the Fulton County Department of Housing and Community Development. The funds would be used for bus transportation rental and employee salaries. No matching city funds are required.

Lionheart School has again agreed to be the fiscal agent for Camp Happy Hearts, as a condition of the grant is that a 501(c)3 nonprofit be the fiscal sponsor. Alpharetta also will partner with Milton’s Camp Joyful Soles, for children 12 to 17 with mild disabilities.
