Alpharetta police officer hit by alleged drunk driver

An Alpharetta officer's vehicle was rear ended by an alleged drunk driver Thursday night, police said.

The incident happened at Hembree Road and Westside Parkway, Alpharetta police spokesman George Gordon told Channel 2 Action News.

The driver was taken into custody at the scene, he said, while the officer was transported to a hospital for observation.
