An Alpharetta man accused of superimposing the faces of local children on lewd images was sentenced to six years in prison by a federal judge Thursday, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Dirk LaPaglia, 53, who volunteered to photograph neighborhood events such as swim meets and fall festivals, was charged with possession of child pornography in September.

LaPaglia admitted his actions and tearfully apologized in court, Channel 2 said.

Johns Creek police were alerted to LaPaglia after he was accused of stalking a minor child, anonymously sending suggestive packages, an FBI spokesman told the AJC in September. He was charged with stalking on April 15, and authorities said then that there may have been other victims.

LaPaglia had an initial appearance in federal court Sept. 1 and was released on bond secured by his home.
