The Alpharetta Recreation and Parks Department has been named best in the state.

The department was recognized recently by the Georgia Recreation and Park Association for accomplishments such as installing a synthetic turf soccer/lacrosse field and creating a 20-acre passive green space at Webb Bridge Park. The Alpharetta Community Garden was established at Wills Park.

Department Director Mike Perry accepted the award during a conference at Jekyll Island.
