The Alpharetta City Council has approved spending an additional $23,815 for a video storyteller station and song station in the Alpharetta History Room.

The amount includes $21,815 added to the professional services contract with Malone Design/Fabrication, and a $2,000 contingency to cover material and equipment needs through the project’s completion, according to a staff report to the council.

As the History Room in City Hall nears completion, the project team identified changes “that will provide a more impactful user experience,” staff said.

The storyteller station will be a kiosk that allows visitors to sit and comfortably watch longer video clips, while the song station will be a modified kiosk with audio capabilities to highlight “the historical ‘Song of Alpharetta.’” With the additions, Malone Design’s revised contract will total $343,870.
