An Alpharetta man died in a skydiving accident in Polk County Saturday, officials said.

Tony Brazier, Polk County deputy coroner, said Rodrigo V. Bianchini, 41, died early Saturday morning while jumping with a group of skydivers at the Skydive the Farm facility in Rockmart.

Brazier said Bianchini apparently tried to skim across a pond and land on dry ground. But when he landed, he went face-first into the water and was killed by the impact.

Bianchini was an experienced skydiver with thousands of jumps. He was a former instructor at Skydive the Farm, according to Channel 2 Action News.
