The first four members of the Alpharetta Historic Preservation Commission have been appointed. The Alpharetta City Council this week named retired city clerk Sue Rainwater and local historian Connie Mashburn to the group, as well as Bonnie Steadman and Larry Gaman.

The council created the group last month. Among its duties will be naming structures to a historic places register, making recommendations on any possible development of those sites and encouraging adoption of regulations aimed at preserving the city’s past.

There’s no word on when the commission might first meet.
