Six sets of sidewalks will be constructed in the Windward area of Alpharetta after the City Council awarded a $320,982 contract for the work.

Construction 57 Inc. submitted the lowest bid of six for the job, which will be funded by a 2016 bond approved by voters for civic projects. The work is expected to take about 4½ months to complete.

To close gaps in the city’s sidewalk network, plans call for about 1,950 linear feet of new walks along the north side of Alderman Drive from Windward Concourse to the west; 670 linear feet along the east side of Market Place south of Fire Station No. 2; and 510 linear feet along the west side of Nobel Court from 105 to 145 Nobel.

Also, 525 linear feet along the east side of Windward Concourse at Windward Parkway; 370 linear feet along the west side of Windward Plaza at Windward Parkway; and 220 linear feet along the north side of Little Pine Trail at Union Hill Road.
