At its Feb. 22 meeting, the Alpharetta City Council will consider a subdivision rezoning proposal that lies close to a busy corridor.

Applicant Jeff Smith/DCG Pebblebrook seeks to rezone about 10 acres from agricultural to residential to build 22 homes. The property is at the north end of Fox Road near Lake Windward Elementary School.

Several variances are being sought, including one that would reduce the front setback from 20 to 15 feet. Another would reduce the lot width from 80 to 75 feet. The city said lot size and density are similar to those in surrounding neighborhoods.

The planning commission had voted to recommend approval of the development, which is near a jammed stretch of Kimball Bridge Road set to be widened and improved in a project by the city of Johns Creek.

The council will meet at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 22 at Alpharetta City Hall, 2 Park Plaza.
