The Alpharetta City Council has awarded a $706,703 contract to construct nine segments of sidewalks around the city.

Excellere Construction LLC had submitted the second-lowest of 11 bids, but the lowest bidder withdrew due to errors and omissions, staff said. Once the contract is finalized and executed, construction may begin immediately and is expected to be completed within 270 days.

The new sidewalks are 430 feet on Canton Street; 570 feet at the Cotton Creek Entry; 470 feet on Crabapple Road; 275 feet on Hembree Road; 950 feet on North Point Parkway; 245 feet at the Pointe Place Northern Gap; 215 feet at the Pointe Place Southern Gap; 340 feet on Upper Hembree Road; and 525 feet on Waters Road.

The undertaking is intended to close gaps in the sidewalk system throughout the city. Tree planting, storm drainage modifications, curbs and gutters and other work are called for where necessary.
